EYE
CARE
By Poppi
How are your eyes or
how is your vision? Do you find that you
have to extend your arms in order to read a
document or that you have to squint to
discern objects in the distance? Do you have
blurred vision when driving at night and
bright lights bother you? If you have any of
these symptoms it’s possible that we need to
see an optometrist and get our eyes examined
and the doctor will check for cataracts or
may even prescribe eyeglasses. Have you
looked at a work of art like a painting or
an eye teaser when you stand a certain
distance something appears in the
background? When you look at artwork your
eyes focuses on something no one else sees?
Similarly in the Aerie we need to determine
how are our eyes or how is our vision? When
you visit the Aerie what do you see? My
brothers and sisters let me describe to you
what my poor eyes see and visualize. I see
hardworking men and women participating in
charitable fundraisers, scheduling
dinners/outings, and participating in Aerie
improvements, participating in Aerie,
District and State meetings, publishing
Newsletter, collating newsletter so it gets
out on time, designing and maintaining Aerie
website, practicing Aerie ritual so that all
can see the dignity of being an Eagle
member, members and Officers working
diligently to ensure that the Aerie is in
compliance with Grand Aerie, State and
Federal laws, Do you see these things or
are we allowing our vision to be blurred or
clouded? Is it that our eyes are only
focusing on things that are not there? There
is an old expression that says, “The eyes
are the windows to a persons heart” If this
expression is true then all these generous
and hardworking brothers and sisters have
given us a great gift. The vision of all our
members has moved our Aerie forward to be
charitable and profitable; do you personally
share in this vision? One thing is self
evident about all these hard working members
they are joyous and happy in what they do
and it shows. Are you happy with your
participation in the Aerie? Is there
something you can do to contribute and help
so that everyone has excellent vision? Lets
all participate in a simple eye test in our
Aerie, the sun is very bright as we approach
the summer months, upon entering the Aerie
stop adjust your eyes and ask yourself what
you see. Approach each member with an
extended hand and give a warm welcome with
words of appreciation and encouragement to
all present in our Aerie. At the end of the
day after all is said and done we can all
say “although the world may scoff in jest,
the life of service is the best and
happiness will always be with he/she who
serves humanity” We will say these things
because of our proper heart condition and
proper, “I CARE”
